The research work of Professor Mark Griffths (Director of the International Gaming Research Unit at Nottingham Trent University) is the instance that suit best here which says that the online games makes the gamers behave like gamblers and drug addicted.

The research work says that the thousands and millions of users access to the RPG online games to take part in multiplayer games to have an interaction with other online gamers. The trial was carried out under curtsy of World Health Organization with some 7000 online gamers that revealed the one in every nine players were having at least three signs of addiction like craving, withdrawal symptoms, loss of control and neglect. The tendency was largely felt in the youngsters of age 21.

The analysis is stirring for the parents whose childs are addicted of playing online games especially EverQuest and World of Warcraft that have been titles as the most addictive games ever.
Prof. Griffths says:
Addicted gamers were compared to the remaining players and it was found that they played for much longer periods and were “significantly” more likely to report withdrawal symptoms and craving. About 20 per cent of players are women, drawn by the social and cooperative element of the games.
One major reason for addiction in online games is the too many gamers present online at a single time that keeps you captivating all the time even if you want to quit the game in midway. Many nations have started acting in the field to treat the cyber addicts.
The games are cultivating sarcastic effects only in case of excessive gameplay otherwise the games are the medium for entertainment.
