With the festive season already in swing and shopping being the top priority on the agenda of most, gaming consoles are virtually selling like a glass of beer on cold winter morning. So what is the gaming console that is selling the best and why is it doing better than the others in the market?
These are not just questions that interest potential buyers, but also are of great significance for those who design and sell the wonderful world of gaming. A new research commissioned by InterSense Inc. reveals the Nintendo Wii tops the list of all those who might go out to the nearest shop and pick up their favorite gaming console. Let’s face it; there are plenty among us who like to gift ourselves a Nintendo or a Sony Playstation 3.
But the important observation that this research has thrown out is the fact that most people favor Nintendo to the Playstation brought out by Sony because of its superior motion sensors. In more common language, Nintendo gives you a more real and interactive experience than the Playstation and all that is a credit to those who developed the motion sensors for the game.
The CEO of Intersense Inc. revealed that,
It’s clear that motion sensing technology has played a key role in the tremendous success to date of the Nintendo Wii. We are at the early stages of the integration of motion sensing capabilities into gaming and these survey results demonstrate the market is primed and ready for the next stage in the evolution of gaming; one in which games will capture not only a player’s motion, but also his or her effort, speed, directionality and skill-based ‘play action’. This would ultimately bring the competitive gaming experience much closer to capturing live game reality.

Now how cool is that! This means I future, you can actually fight the demons, travel through time and space and go sailing to find that treasure; all this at the comfort of your couch. Come to think of it, the research only tells you what should be very obvious. We all play to escape from the real world and transform ourselves in to a magical world where we have a chance to always win. Even if we do get beaten, there is always the option of starting the game again! The point is that gaming is a make-believe world and the better you can transport those who play it in to that fantasy land, the better you will sell your product. It is just like movies, but you get to be the hero here.
