After a series of denials and rumors, Mr. Ryan, Sony Computer Entertainment Co-chief Operating Officer has given a definite indication of its arrangement of converging PlayStation with Sony Ericsson being in the pipeline. Sony Ericsson is unquestionably planning to integrate PlayStation Portable into a mobile phone. SE had filed the patent application in August 2006 in Japan and has, now, shipped 800,000 Sony PSP consoles so far . As per the online application, the device comprises of a large touchscreen and a built-in accelerometer for reformatting its GUI horizontally or vertically. Several operating modes, such as, phone mode, web browser mode, and music player mode are available. The game mode displays touch-sensitive PSP controls at both ends on being held horizontally. Unfortunately, there is no word on how the games would load or how to activate the phone mode? The patent includes a “mechanically vibrated touchscreen display”. Any links with the iPhone, whatsoever, aren’t plausible as the device is fully loaded with a full-size touchscreen having web and music operating modes. The screen can rotate itself with sliding keys resembling the existing PSP. So, we are doubtlessly looking forward to the pairing off of cellular network with Wi-Fi connectivity that would go on to the emergence of a Smartphone/PDA device.
