In early February, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan , a division of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc, responsible for business operations in Japan, announced that it would release the PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3) 40GB model in a new ‘Satin Silver’ color in Japan. Microsoft also unveiled its plans to launch the Xbox 360 Arcade in Japan at the same time. Both companies started sales of their consoles on March 6. However, the controller that comes along with the PS3 is not the DualShock 3, instead it is the SIXAXIS which will come along with it. Japanese consumers are going to have to shell out an additional ¥5500 (USD$50) to get their hands on the DualShock 3.
The new color variant in the PS3 adds to the already existing two colors i.e. Clear Black and Ceramic White of the console.
The Xbox 360 Arcade however, makes its debut on Japanese soil after a long anticipated wait and gamers there can now experience the entry-level Xbox 360 hands-on.
