Skype, popular VoIP services provider will launch this gaming channel for casual gamers on its services. Norway based firm Easybits will develop the channel. Users would be able to invite their friends and engage them in multiplayer games.

This is first time, Skype has entered into the video games by promoting the Game Developer Program for free tools to make games. Skype has already offered free SDK tools and would be giving its support to convert games into the GameXN framework.

Skype director Paul Amery said,

People are increasingly using Skype to interact with one another, with many choosing to play simple games like checkers or backgammon. However, the tremendous size of Skype's user-base makes it an ideal environment for multi-player and community-based games in which people can play against or collaborate with one another.
