Finally! Sony has come out and said the thing that we have all known since the PS3 has come out. With the PS2 being a hit, and most gaming taking place on it we all thought we would see those titles reappear for the PS3. Well, we did, but not in the way we thought they would. Frankly the PS3 is a massive heap of power with no ‘in’ socket. Meaning the console is hard to work with. This was known from the release and just now the president has admitted the obvious. The Sony president Shuhei Yoshida had this to say about the problem,

Sometimes we struggle to convince them (third-party publishers) to put more resources into the PS3.

We know there’s a lot more that we can do, and with the massive growth of the industry we understand that third party publishers have so many choices, many more than they have resources.

Because the 360 hardware was out earlier, the games were built based on 360 architecture. But still, they must have been planning to...release (the PS3 game) at the same time with the same quality. So they massively underestimated the effort that was needed to re-architect the game to property take advantage of the PS3’s multi-core architecture.

Well, duh Mr.President. We all know that its not all your fault for not caring much about the consumer, especially with what Howard Stringer had said. Oh but wait, he had this one last thing to say as well,

We tried as much as possible not to pass that cost on to consumers, but we do feel that the early adapters of the PS3 are getting good value (with the integrated Blu-ray).

Wait so releasing the PS3 at $700 is trying not to pass the cost on to consumers? Come on, get real Sony. You aren’t doing a good job and you started to admit it but then chickened out and blamed it on other circumstances. Oh well, I suppose you can’t change a dead dogs mind.
