The two elite manufacturers in gaming industry Sony and Microsoft are bearing a heavy loss. Microsoft who showed its financial loss of approximately $96 million for last fiscal year that has been reduced from last year’s $173 million due to the sale of 6 million Xbox 360 consoles.
Now its turn of Sony that too is showing a loss of $1.71 billion for fiscal year ending on March 31st 2007. The SCE says that the loss has got twice to that of initially assessed amount. The officials are holding responsible the price slash in favor of the Japanese gamers for grave loss. Sony cut the price of 20GB version of PS3 to 47,600 yen from the original 59,800 i.e. approximately 100$ less per console.
However as per my observation Sony performed such a significant price hack to grip their Japanese fanboys. As you know no price cut was announced for US gamers. This can also be a key reason for massive loss. Whatsoever it be, the ultimate result takes time to come out (at least three to four years after the launch date of the edition) and definitely Sony would manage it.
