ryoji-chubachi_52It seems like Sony has gauged the way to produce the blu-ray abundantly. Few days ago, Sony announced that the company has lowered down the price of Blu-ray players to $499 from $599. The company slashed the price of player by $100 making it cost $499.

Few analysts rightly assessed that PS3 price cut is around the corner, and happened as we had expected. Sony CEO, Ryoji Chubachi made an official announcement confirming a price cut for PS3. He said that the Sony may cut the price of PS3 that is currently facing a huge competition from Nintendo’s Wii and a year old Microsoft’s Xbox360. Talking to the Japanese newspaper, Yomiuri Shimbun, Sony chief said that they haven’t ruled out the PS3 price cut issue. They will first asses the competitive situations in the home videogame market and after that they will be able to decide the price cut.

Currently, the PS3 is lagging far behind Microsoft’s Xbox360 and Nintendo’s Wii. Since the company hasn’t yet announced how much price drop they are bringing to PS3, but the Blu-ray cost reduction will matter a lot in bringing down the PS3 price. Sony has already employed a price hack to the PS3 when it was launched n Japan, last year and now the fierce competition is demanding another price cut.

As all of you know that the Japanese electronics giant’s is undergoing a heavy operating loss in the last economic year that will linger through this fiscal year. It’s $150 or $200 that can steady Sony’s ship in the great tempest, or else PS3 will take a back seat.
