This time, the rumor could not live for long enough as the brand name in the entertainment world, Sony responds to the 80GB PS3 version.

The console developer says that the basis of rumor is FCC filing (Federal Communications Comission) that SCE filed earlier this month for a new version of the PS3 console with a higher-capacity HD drive.
Sony made a regulatory filing with FCC to let them know that they were planning PS3’s bluetooth module, and unveiled plans to give birth to PS3 having an 80GB HD drive.
One of Sony’s Spokespersons to Eurogamer.net:
The 80GB we’re not making any comment on, but we don’t have any plans at the moment.
Sony’s response against PS3 with higher capacity HD drive has thrown cold water over my expectations. If unintentionally Sony would have given a green signal to the upgraded PS3 with 80GB HD drive, it could be an excellent counteract to Microsoft’s Xbox ‘Elite’ that Microsoft has officially confirmed and will be shipping to the retailer stores on April 29th.
Anyway, keep hopes high because if Sony has initiated 80GB venture, then it’s mean that there is something in the pipeline, for sure.
