I don’t know whether it is a matter of pride or ignominy for Hindu society as ‘The Ramayana‘, one of India’s ancient Sanskrit epics is going to attain animatronic hilarity.

Sony Online Entertaintment has joined hands with Sir Richard Branson and Virgin Comics to create an MMORPG for the PCs based on the comic book series Ramayan 3392 A.D. As all comic buffs might know that Ramayan 3392 A.D. is a series based on more than 2000-year-old Indian epic Ramayana, in which Lord Rama routed evil Ravana.
The story of the game deals with the conflicts between human and demon factions in a post-apocalyptic world maintaining the spirituality of the scripture. The characters have been created with the help of robotics and nanotechnology.
Being entirely new storyline for most of gamers, especially western gamers, the game is believed to break new ground around the globe, because the whole world is dominated by the games themed on Western mythology and the new MMO tends to offer nearly all new characters that players will be playing with for the first time.
Although, alliance with likeminded intellectuals at SOE could turn out to be a silky-smooth way to sprinkle the droplets of ‘oldest culture on the Earth’ all around the world, simultaneously fear of depiction of traditional epic in wrong context always lies beside.
