Sony is holding discussions about offering a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360 with console contender Microsoft. After Sony’s triumph last month in the high-definition DVD format conflict, the two sides are now talking about Microsoft adopting Blu-ray. A Blu-ray drive in a 360 would make Microsoft more aggressive with the PS3. The drive could be included in Pro version Xbox, or Microsoft could offer a drive as a plug-in peripheral. Distribution of digital video is a matter of contention as of now. Sheng Zou, head of Microsoft product in Taiwan, seems to be extremely hopeful regarding the proposal. There’s no official announcement regarding the discussions, except August being the month for the offer to be realized.
