Previously, Project Soul had been opposing online multiplay for its versus fighting genre, Soul Calibur IV, but as per new reports, the game will be featuring online support.

The included feature will allow players to create/customize a new character with the help of 'character creation system'. The game director Katsutoshi Sasaki emphasizing on the inclusion of online support said that the new feature has been added after realizing a rising demand from a number of fans.
Here is what Katsutoshi Sasakihas to say:
What's changed this time round is that the next-gen platforms have network infrastructure already in place. We've heard from fans that they really want the game to be online, so we figured that, with the current environment, we really couldn't make SC4 without online play.
Certainly, the inclusion of new mode to the game will cause developer to make some significant changes to the single-player mode that will result in deformation of original gameplay to a significant extent, e.g. throws become harder to avoid, some risky moves become hard to counter, some moves that require a level of accuracy to use become difficult, etc.

Hence, the inclusion of online feature points towards an all-new Soul Calibur IV. Mortal Komat is the very first game that started the era of online networking in fighter genres, but that time it used to be very slow. Hope, online play in SC IV will be fast enough, so that we can enjoy it.
The game has been slated for 2008 release on Xbox360 and PS3.
