Amidst the media hype that larger corporations generate, news from smaller yet laudable companies go unnoticed. If you haven’t about the release of a console by a Dutch company Swinxs then you have first-hand illustration of this fact. Swinxs is a console not looking to take on the likes of PS3 or Wii. Instead it is looking to bring home the games that are age-old, unique on machines, fun and that can carve a nice-little niche for the young console. Swinxs essentially relies on its RFID technology to promote its green design. The bright machine comes with a host of wristbands, which players are supposed to wear. They can then select one of the games on console – hide & seek, musical chair, quiz etc – and then listen to the console explain the rules. Up to 10 players can engage in fun inside/outside utilizing the wireless capabilities of the machine. The console is on sale for £130 (149.95 euro), in return you get 4 XS-tags, USB cable, adapter and 10 pre-installed games. Swinxs may not guarantee you the cutting-edge graphics of a PS3 but it surely will give you wholesome, physical gaming fun – something that’s strangely amiss in the gaming scene of current times.
