Not until the success of Densetsu no Starfy 4 (simply known as The Legendary Starfy 4 outside of Japan) on the DS did its developers TOSE realize the potential of this flabby little sea-creature being a success in the US. Now the character has had a fifth installment in its series, which is tagged a rather mouthful as Densetsu no Starfy Taiketsu! Daiiru Kaizokudan, and this is planned as the official debut of the sea-based platformer in North America. Of course, the game has already been out for a year in Japan. Originally treated as an untouchable by Nintendo America for being too Japanese, the game was officially announced for NA this February. This belated debut might have its roots in the immense popularity that the DS has recently gained. If the Legendary Starfy’s fifth outing was to be a success perhaps other titles from the series, including the ones on GBC and GBA, could make it on to DSiWare. That all would depend on how the Americans react to the official outing of Starfy on June 8.
