The Secret of Nintendo Revolution: More revealed

Nintendo's upcoming console is not pegged as a competitor for the newly released Xbox 360 or Sony's upcoming PlayStation 3. Nintendo has instead chosen to design a console that will be very affordable. That's why Nintendo has opted out of filling the systems with high capacity expensive RAM.

It has already being that Revolution would include 128 MB of RAM or lesser. Developers have clarified that the makeup is based on Nintendo documentation that was officially released. Revolution will build on GameCube's configuration of 24 MB 1T-SRAM and 16 MB D-RAM equalling 40 MB and add an addition 64 MB 1T-SRAM. This in total makes the supply of memory in Revolution to 104 MB.

According to official Nintendo documentation, Revolution's Broadway CPU that is developed by IBM will be an extension of the Gekko CPU in GameCube while the Hollywood GPU is believed a Flipper GPU extension in GameCube.

Exact clock rates were not disclosed, but one development source speaking to IGN on the Revolution CPU and GPU said;

"Basically, take a GameCube, double the clock rate of the CPU and GPU and you're done."
IGN quoting another source said;
"The CPU is the same as Gekko with one and a half to two times the performance and improved caching. Our guys experimented with it and think they'll be able to get about twice the performance as GameCube."
As another source correctly made out of this whole project;
"It's a gamble for the Big N. It's not about horsepower for them; it's about innovation and gameplay"
Hearing this, we can safely assume that Nintendo's Revolution will be the most innovative console ever made. Besides, if the prices are kept low as the whole Revolution scenario promises at present, Microsoft's big dreams with the Xbox can take a hit along with Sony's upcoming PS 3 that is rumoured to be priced around USD 500.
