I am not here to politicize the matter; I just want to appreciate the exhausting efforts of various developers behind royal WWII themed games designed for various futuristic platforms. The list is apparently a tribute to all the WWII martyrs/civilians who lost their lives in the ‘titanic military conflict’.
Spanish developer Pyro Studios sets its seven potent commodes to get the anarchy fixed that has surfaced during WWII. The entire Commandos series is a RTS based that Pyro developed for PC and Mac OS X.
Commandos deploy its seven best commandos, each with different background, identity, and different fields of expertise. Commandos are sent in to covertly take out sabotage plans, assassinate leaders, and cause as much disruption to the enemies as possible. Each man is essential for each mission, and if one dies, the mission ends and comes to the initial stage.
Commandos is an open game, with no linear progression. There is no true way to crack each mission and all soldiers act according to their AI - the rest depends on your killing instincts.
The game sets these seven heroes in WWII action and immediate sequel named Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines, comprising 20 all new missions throughout Europe and North Africa, carries the legacy forward.

If you don’t find yourself sound enough to get into multiplay, you can hone your skills in single-player mode against AI bots to acquire warfare finesses.
Blending strategic combat with explosive action, the multiplayer Battlefield undoubtedly appeals to a wider range of gamers. Battlefields 1942 puts you in the role of a newly recruited solider during WW II, who has been sent off to the battlefront with heavy artilleries to defy enemies. As the game is all terrain combat, so you have greater options either to play as a pilot in one case or jump on a tank to drive it away, which makes the game more interesting.

The game starts with ear-deafening bangs all around. A new franchise that not only defines FPS genre, but others as well, intended for different systems. Although, I am not advocating the flawlessness of franchise, because, it has some obvious flaws, but still it plays well on all the sixth-gen and portable platforms.
Brothers in Arms is one of the games that is based on real events and drops you back in 40s, so that you could experience the real WWII confrontation that you have never seen before. You, as Sergeant Matt Baker, escort your crew through actual battles that Baker’s 101st Airborne platoon falls upon. However, the game blends the cinematic actions of games like Call Of Duty, Medal Of Honor, still the team-strategy centric gameplay sets it apart from all other fast paced run-and-gun tactical shooters. The various sequels include realistic weapons used by armed forces for slaying in highly destructive-environments with the same weather effects in which they took place.

Medal Of Honor places you in the middle of WWII; undoubtedly making it the one of the most famous game.
In the game, you are supposed to penetrate the enemy barricade, damage equipment, steal documents, and render Nazi’s plots futile. You are not only working as a soldier who keeps roving around with a long gun in your hands, but also as a secret agent who covertly goes using forged papers and stolen Nazi uniforms to burgle the area that is otherwise hard to enter.
Since, you often keep nagging around, utilizing your stealth abilities, the game looks more like an adventure genre, rather than an FPS. The game has 30 3D levels and exceptionally intelligent enemy AI - making it one of the best FPS ever.
Although, the series received great reviews, all around, simultaneously it could not escape controversies as it came under fire for screening ’swastika’ sign that can often be seen on the flags.

By introducing Call of Duty, Infinity Ward added another feather to the cap of WWII based games. The game depicts epic battlefield moments of WWII, and how the millions of unsung soldiers endured the adversities when the earth was tinted in flames.
Being a part of a well-trained squad, you play in a chaotic environment of battle, who lays down covering fire and pulls the wounded one to safety. In order to authenticate squad movements and tactics, each soldier’s distinctive qualities and training comes out on the battlefront. The game exquisitely tries to depict that no nation or soldier can win a battle alone and hence introduces unison of different countries to override the enemies, giving rise to multiple perspectives.
The players are supposed to accomplish 24 missions that spread across 4 separate campaigns, while placing themselves in the role of three soldiers (with American, British, and Russian viewpoint) on the frontline, who must endure three different operations. Some of the battles you play are the D-Day invasion, the Russian charge on Stalingrad, the Battle for Berlin and many others.
Whether we talk about sound, graphics, or action, Infinity Ward and Activision have taken the genre to a new level. In brief, the game can be defined as a ‘masterwork’ of Infinity Ward.
