The rumor that was doing the round came true. That Ubisoft dumped the controversial DRM maker, Starforce. It seemed no one really likes StarForce. No where on the Internet I have found good words about the firm. People feel that it can harm your personal PC and what's more it's real difficult to undone the software without actually installing more software.

So, the move taken by Ubisoft surely will make the gaming community happy. Ubisoft is no more a part of mass criticized StarForce copy protection system. Ubisoft for now has decided to use another alternative copy protection system.
Earlier Ubisoft has done an internal study which has concluded that StarForce does not pose any significant problems to gamers. Quite contrary to the belief that its dead optical drives and other stuff act notoriously on the gamers.
Don't know why StarForce didn't response to the complaints and criticism. It neither did any thing to liven up its own reputation.
