Wii gets three new (oops, old) games!

Another Monday gone and another blast from the past for Nintendo's Wii. The already stuffed Wii Shop Channel has been updated with three classic titles from the yesteryears. This time Pac-man and two Ninja titles debut in their pristine form. Gamers interested in acquiring these classic titles can redeem their Wii Points™ to download the games. These points are available with the retailers or can be bought in the Wii Shop Channel.

Three titles up for grabs this week are:

Pac-Man (500 Wii Points): Do I even need to describe this title? All the serious gamers, oblivious of this title, are condemned to a lifetime in hell. Okay, here's the brief. Guide a spooky little character through the maze to eat all the shiny dots. Avoid the ghosts and you may be able to move onto the next level. More points, more score. Eat up a power pellet and the hunted becomes the hunter i.e. Pac-Man can eat the ghosts. Oh yes, there are bonus points for eating up the ghosts and fruits. Simple, isn't it. Thankfully, this legendary game has not been meddled with. It has been released in its original arcade form. What's the fun, you ask? Play it and you'll understand.

ninja gaiden 3858

Ninja Gaiden (500 Wii Points): This was one of the earlier arcade games belonging to the fight (action) genre. The player takes on the role of Ryu Hayabusa who aims to wreak revenge on his father's murderer. For this, he travels to the America and fights street thugs, evil ninjas and your usual end of the level bosses. Bestowed with a Dragon Sword, slick ninja acrobatics and nifty magic tricks, the game is 14 levels of kick-ass side-scrolling action. Walking tight ropes, throwing objects at the enemies, picking power ups (very important for a ninja) and getting some cool weapons, this ninja does it all. What else did you expect from an ingenious 80's title?

ninja spirit 3858

Ninja Spirit (600 Wii Points): Again a ninja game and again, guess what, a side scrolling action game. Deja vu, not quite. This title, back in its heydays, set new benchmarks for precision graphics. The plot is your usual avenge your father's death. Take on the role of Moonlight and hack away the bad guys to your heart's content. There are a total of seven varied levels ranging from woodlands to deadly cliffs. The ninja is equipped with a katana blade, which can attack in all directions. There are some extra weapons like sickles, chains, bombs and shuriken. This game can be played in two modes - the original arcade mode and the PC-engine Mode. The PC engine mode provides a bigger healthbar. The Arcade mode is tougher and the ninja dies with the slightest bit of contact. Be resourceful, switch between weapons and you shall succeed.

These brand new (pun not intended) games open up the old debate of whether it is wise to spend money to play titles that you can play for free. Hell yes, if the titles are as classic as these ones.
