When Nintendo released its Wii into the market of gaming consoles, it created a wave. However, the future of this next generation gaming console is hovering in clouds now. Xbox and Playstation are built on a simple theory of providing rich media features like high-definition graphic and enhanced surround sound. Wii’s most unique feature was its revolutionary, motion-sensitive, wireless remote control. It promised a more active gaming experience rather than just being a couch bug pressing the buttons of heavy remote controls of other consoles. Enabled with Bluetooth and Wi-fi capabilities, Wii’s tennis or bowling promised the gamers physical activity. Wii was conceived and built beyond simple games.
This also meant a departure from the traditional gaming experience that has sucked into the blood of most gamers. The market, which gave rave reviews of Wii’s winning the market for a couple of months, is now getting ready to see its decline. Its relatively cheaper pricing attracted most gamers’ curiosity. The challenge was whether Wii is capable of retaining this curiosity. But most reviews now suggest the undoubted king of video game is ready to take the back path. Though the real cause for its decrease in sales isn’t known, it can be attributed to its trying to break the traditional gaming experience. The developers of Wii think the console was unable to keep the curiosity of gamers on for a longer time.
