Being snowed under with stylistically innovative work for so long to get a groundbreaking device like Wii, Nintendo would be now feeling free from strain as their console is showing a snowball effect in sales across the world. Looking current sales figures, anyone can assume quite conducive environment for Wii’s swelling sales. The latest numbers coming from VGChartz shows that in less than 9 months the Wii system has managed to sell over 10 million units, worldwide. The stats claim that the Wii has sold more than 10.03 million units within just 8 and a half months to make it the fastest selling console ever. However, the Xbox360 has managed to sell 10.32 million units i.e. trailing behind its nearest rival, Wii from about 290,000 units.
Certainly, high-paced rollercoaster is a growing threat to the record sales of the Xbox360s. It’s hardly a couple of weeks ago, when Wii crossed 9 million landmark and now it’s inclined to surpass Xbox360’s 10.32 million record following NDS’s at whopping 47.27 million.
It is a great start for any console for sure - in middle of last quarter Nintendo was facing production crisis and it was a hard to find a Wii on retailer stores, still Nintendo has succeeded in pushing a respectable amount of systems so far. As time asks for an increased production, hence, acting likewise, Nintendo has unwaveringly upped hardware production rate to meet the demand.
Microsoft has not a firm grip on Japanese market and the region is no less a golden egg laying goose for Nintendo ‘ hence, the country of rising sun is being desperately dominated by the Wii and very shortly will become market leader before the end of this year. Towering hardware sales of Nintendo has lifted the company’s quarterly profit fivefold increasing its annual turnover forecast by 40%.
Talking Sony’s PS3 sales, the console has managed only 4.09 million since the time it debuted in November, last year across the US and homeland, Japan. However, the PS3 sales has started taking high tides after confirmation of $100 price-cut, but the Xbox360 sales continues to drop after Microsoft has admitted all 11.6 million sold are flawed ‘ consequently, turning out to be a boon for other two i.e. Wii and PS3. The Xbox360 Steady sales will not only lessen obstructions in Wii’s way to get on Xbox360 sales record, but will bring a huge financial loss to Microsoft.
As Microsoft has also announced $50 price drop to its Premium Xbox360 console, the developer is with hopes high. As two close competitors have lowered prices of their respective consoles, from sales point of view, this fall is going to be very interesting.
