Sony has sold more than 120 million PS2 units since it debuted in 2000, but the figures don’t impress Nintendo’s President ‘Satoru Iwata’ very much. He believes that it’s not a far cry for Wii, thus opines - ‘Wii will surpass the number‘.
The statement came after undergoing a few hectic days of great hullabaloo from all the major hardware developers at the E3 Expo ‘07. Iwata thinks that the Wii could become the most successful console so far. However, getting on a grand total of 120 million target is not a child’s play, but the rate at which the Wii is presently selling, makes him feel so.
Will the Wii be able to achieve the target? It would be a bit early to predict anything, simultaneously there is noting that stops it getting on the meant goal. Undoubtedly, it’s a fun machine, hence comes with a greater lasting appeal - especially the innovative motion-sensing feature coupled with its Wii-mote.
The PS2 took more than six years to reach the landmark, and Wii sales figure 8.2 million may feel a little uncomfortable, but low price and well-suited software can make the Wii outperform PS2.
