Wii's lead over Sony's PS3 gets even longer in Japan

Sony had not yet recovered the previous scrapes, and Nintendo is once again there to add salt to the festering wound. Enterbrain has set forth the sales results for the month of June that affirm that Nintendo's Wii has outsold the PS3 by 6:1 ration in Japan. However, both of its contenders (Sony's PS3 and Microsoft's Xbox360) were prefigured to fight for the first place to win the HD war.

Even Nintendo wouldn't have expected such a flooding sales of Wii, but since the console has made its debut (just after a month of PS3's debut); the sales figures continue to swell. Not having quite a contrasting scenario in prior month, the PS3 sale was trailed by Wii by over 5 to 1 ratio in Japan. The figures for this month show that the Wii hardware sale is relentlessly going up, which solidifies Nintendo's leading position.

According to the data revealed by Enterbrain, the sales results for last four weeks ending on June 24th are as follows:

Nintendo Wii - 270,974 units

Sony PS3 - 41,628 units

Microsoft Xbox360 - 17,616 units

Taking into account the sales results for consecutive three months, we find that there is an ascending growth (April - 4:1, May - 5:1, June - 6:1) in the sales of Wii console that sees no nose-dive midway. The Wii's strong performance, accompanied by gratifying sales of Nintendo's portable handheld (DS), has helped it become one of Japan's top 10 companies.

On the contrary, I would like to draw your attention to the growing PS3 sales registered by some online retailers like EBGames and Amazon, who articulate that the PS3 sales has received a huge momentum whereas Wii sales has become partially steady.
