Well, well! Looks like Blu-ray is all set to continue its triumphant march into the gaming industry with Lite-On IT insiders claiming that it already has built-in Blu-ray Disc-(BD) ROM drives for the Microsoft Xbox 360 game console in the works. The BD ROM-fitted Xbox 360 consoles are most likely to hit stores in the later half of the year. The next console is revealed to be fitted with a 170-watt power supply which translates into reduced size and production cost for the manufacturers. The switch comes close on the heels of Toshiba’s discontinuation of the production of HD DVDs, and Microsoft seems more than eager to get their next-gen game consoles out in the market ASAP, which gives all you gamers plenty of time to start saving for the all those jazzy Blu-ray titles you always wanted!
