Microsoft wants to hit the Indian market with its next generation video game console, Xbox 360, before Diwali, Indian festival of lights. The festival falls on October 21. Mitch Core, corporate vice president of global retail sales and marketing said, "We will be in India before our competition has launched in any other market." He was referring to its archrival Sony who is planning PlayStation3 launch in November in US.
Microsoft has not commented on the sales forecast for the country. However, it said that global Xbox 360 sale is expected to reach 5 to 5.5 million units by June. Microsoft said it has no plan to set up an offshore gaming development center in India.
