Procuring a handheld gaming console is one of the happiest moments in one’s life. A Nintendo DS owner can sense it, who has got a NDS, recently. I came to hear that eve Microsoft is thinking of manufacturing gaming handhelds, though it’s just a speculation until now. After a couple of speculations, here I introduce you with fresh one; Microsoft is thinking of bringing a price-cut to the Xbox360. Basis of recent speculation is the words that one of Microsoft Xbox executives shared with Bloomberg report. The executive says that US$199 is the trigger point for mass consumer sales and this is only reason for Nintendo’s high success that sells a game console for just US$250.
The aforementioned quote very clearly defines Microsoft’s ext move. The software giant is currently considering a price cut (in keeping mind the $199 sweet-spot) so that it costs around $200 or so. Microsoft is lagging far behind Nintendo’s Wii, sales wise, so Microsoft is contemplating it very sincerely.
Currently, Xbox360 core sells for $299 that contains no hard drive, while the Premium System costs $399 that includes a 20GB hard drive. So, n present market scenario, both Xbox360 as well as $599 costing Sony’s PS3 are being outperformed by low-priced Wii, selling for just $250. So Microsoft has priced its Xbox360 too high and to sell it at sweet-spot price, Microsoft requires cutting its price by about $150-$200 (for Premium System) and that in my opinion is unfeasible, currently, because slashing the price of XBxo360 by $150-$200 is not a child’s play, it can be accomplished only at the cost of loss.
But Microsoft officials are refusing any recent price cut and say that they have currently mo such plans, in the way. Gamerscoreblog were able to talk to Microsoft’s David Hufford about hot-topic and received this email in reply:

Some are getting really spun up about the Bloomberg story and inaccurately reading tea leaves that don’t exist. I spoke to Bloomberg nearly two months ago and we were talking about NPD data that had just been released, and chatting generally about price points of consoles in the market. The comment, which is accurately reported, unfortunately has now been taken way out of context and being reported as if I am signaling a price drop. I was not, I am not.
He continues further that both Xbox360 as well as Elite are presently selling pretty well and there’s no reason to announce any immediate price drop.
Thought, Microsoft has slashed the rumor but price hack is a depressing issue for both Microsoft as well as Sony, because if they want to push the sale of their respective consoles, they’d have to take it into action, immediately.
