Majesco has its mind bent on changing our view of the space, or so it seems from its latest venture announced for January 2010. Majesco will seek to deliver Flip’s Twisted World next yea, and the game is promised as a topsy-turvy platformer for the Nintendo Wii. Majesco also promises to show off the title with a demo at E3 next week. Flip’s Twisted World is about a magician’s apprentice – obviously named Flip – who messes up a magical artifact to get sucked into a cubed world. Now Flip must rotate this world several times over – with twists of Wii Remote – to come up with escape routes and put things right before Master Fulcrum returns. Also there’s a side-business of saving the universe from destruction. All in all there are five bizarre puzzle worlds to roam in and meet new characters. The game is in development at Frozen North Productions and Tommy Tallarico is in-charge of the score. The screenshots that have surfaced look lively and colorful. We’ll have more on the game when Majesco shows it at E3. Till then images shall suffice.

Care for some crime scene investigation? Of course you do if that takes the form of a demo. Miami Law – the DS action-adventure title – has just got a downloadable demo out to give you a taste of what to expect when the game comes out next month. The game is inspired by crime drama on TV and packs in various elements of crimes and their investigations. Players get to follow the game from the perspective of either Miami Police Department Officer Martin Law or FBI agent Sara Starling. Choice of the former as a playable character provides for more action, while latter paves the way for puzzles and like. The point-and-click adventure-game contains a host of mini-games that need to be solved to unravel a criminal conspiracy. The demo gives a taste of the same by packing in two mini games: “Confirmation of Guard” and “Car Support”. It is out now for free on the Nintendo Channel.

Infinity Ward has tested our patience in recent times; first at NBA playoffs, then on Game Trailers TV. After teasing us into submission, it has come good on its promise of providing a gameplay trailer of Modern Warfare 2, one that’s been aptly titled ‘Reveal’. The game is supposed to be released on 10th of November, 2009 and was detailed only earlier this month. The trailer meanwhile, puts these into perspective. About two minutes of footage shows battle scenes in a variety of locales: urban streets, an airport, sunny Rio, and an assault on a mountaintop fortress. It starts with a reference to the final encounter with Imran Zakhaev and then moves on to action. Do lookout for hapless hostages, snowmobiles full throttle, and a clear hint of a continuation of gritty tone from the previous installment. Elsewhere on the web you can also find three screenshots depicting Modern Warfare’s single player capabilities.

Where mighty superheroes – Wolverine, Riddick etc. – fell THQ’s UFC has succeeded. It has managed to send Wii Fit packing down the pecking order on UK videogame sales’ chart. UFC 2009: Undisputed now sits pretty at the top of videogames’ sales this past week; it has entered at No.1 on All Formats All Prices videogame chart. The nature of beating that Wii Fit has taken has left it teetering not at second or third spot, but at number four on the list. Pokémon Platinum and EA Sports Active (in a weird sort of continuation of fitness mania) occupy other positions in top three respectively. Other spots in top 10 are occupied by the usual good performers, including FIFA 09, CoD: World at War, CoD 4, and so on. Debutants to have made an impact in top 40 last week include Bionic Commando at 14 and Damnation at 35. Meanwhile Punch-Out!! On Wii has failed to make it to top 40 entirely. And the gaming activity is coming thick and fast yet again when inFamous, Terminator: Salvation and Guitar Hero: Metallica hit retailers this week.

From a strategic price reduction to completely free (albeit with conditions), BattleForge has been all action these past months. EA and Phenomic’s card-based RTS-MMO is now a Play4Free title. So feel free to download it and enjoy. The title, which was previously priced at about 30 bucks, is now available for cipher. The BattleForge free client gives players access to a complete game, including all areas, scenarios, and community features; as also all updates announced since release. The free version will give players access to two decks of cards; in all 32 of the 200 that are available. To unlock rest of the cards players must purchase Booster Packs or bid in the Auction House. This, of course, requires players to forge some points together first and level up in PvE (level 4) and PvP (level 10). Head to the official page for details and free client.

October 2009 will provide some much needed scares on Wii. That much is sure after XSEED Games announced JU-ON: The Grudge for the console. Inspired by the Japanese horror flick “JU-ON”, which came out as “The Grudge” in America, the game is touted as a “Haunted House Simulator”. With original creator of the movie, Takashi Shimuzu onboard as creative consultant, JU-ON: The Grudge is expected to put instant scares for the gamers as its priority. Wii Remote is to be used as a flashlight as players go on exploring with a touch of a button haunted areas such as an abandoned warehouse, a creepy hospital, and a mannequin factory. Even more interesting is the way a second remote can be used in the game. As a player walks through the spooky environment, his trusted friend can push the button on a second Wii Remote to accelerate the in-game events and thereby speed up the scares as well. So you’d do well to choose a trusty second player. Jun Iwasaki, President of XSEED Games would have your mother play alongside. He says:

Next patch for Empire: Total War has received some initial detailing and it seems the game is in line for a content update. This will take the shape of, among others, eleven free units. While all of these may not be new – Creative Assembly says the units are a “combination of new and replacement units” – but they will certainly shake things up on several factions’ rosters. Creative Assembly promises that brand new models and textures will greet the gamers. As far as bug-fixes are concerned, Creative seeks to remove any fears. Designer Jack Lusted says:

The work on the free units is not taking away time for fixes, the free units do not require any work from coders just work by artists and by a designer (me). So we can, and are working both on fixes and on this extra free content for you all.

Not until the success of Densetsu no Starfy 4 (simply known as The Legendary Starfy 4 outside of Japan) on the DS did its developers TOSE realize the potential of this flabby little sea-creature being a success in the US. Now the character has had a fifth installment in its series, which is tagged a rather mouthful as Densetsu no Starfy Taiketsu! Daiiru Kaizokudan, and this is planned as the official debut of the sea-based platformer in North America. Of course, the game has already been out for a year in Japan. Originally treated as an untouchable by Nintendo America for being too Japanese, the game was officially announced for NA this February. This belated debut might have its roots in the immense popularity that the DS has recently gained. If the Legendary Starfy’s fifth outing was to be a success perhaps other titles from the series, including the ones on GBC and GBA, could make it on to DSiWare. That all would depend on how the Americans react to the official outing of Starfy on June 8.

The Undead maybe immune to swine flu, but their developers, obviously, aren’t. That’s why, Kotaku reports that Capcom has decided against traveling to Japan in view of the restrictions imposed on international travel by the Japanese government after the outbreak of Swine Flu in Osaka. This means that the much anticipated appearance of the zombies in Dead Rising 2 is not in the offing. Capcom’s spokesman Chris Kramer told Kotaku:

Our Capcom guys are not coming to E3 because of the Japanese government restrictions. The company is taking the advisory very seriously.
