EA Sports’ FIFA series has all in the name of licensed; official players, leagues, gear, everything. It is still looking to take it up a notch. You see FIFA 09 will have a feature called adidas Live Session that will continuously update the game to keep in sync with realities of real-world football. Adidas Live Session will be a “premium service” enabling players to update each of the player’s stats as per performances in 2008-09 season. There will be support for several leagues including Barclay’s Premier League, La Liga BBVA, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, Serie A and Mexican Primera Division. This feature will work on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The game would thus follow the course charted by actual on-pitch performances. This essentially means that if Ronaldo were to score a hat trick for ManU then his performance in the game would automatically go up. Added authenticity would only add to the gameplay of the latest iteration. EA’s official release says that gamers would be given a free trial of one of the supported leagues for the entire season but thereafter they’d be asked to pay a weekly subscription to continue with the service. The amount of this for the moment is undisclosed.

The ongoing Games conference at Leipzig seems to be churning out a number of gaming peripherals and yesterday, I was already wondering if so many gaming accessories were required. However, Sony today launched an interesting wireless keypad that can attach itself to the top of a PS3 controller and features the ‘touchpad mode’. The device would be released in 8 languages and a mode that turns the key area into a touchpad, with which you could control an onscreen cursor with your fingers. With two short-cut buttons you have access to XMB’s ‘Friends’ icon and of course the ‘Message Box’. The pad can be used along with Bluetooth and would be released in November.

Guitar Hero fans are going to love this. Eric Ruckman has created the Guitar Hero hack, which features a more true to the series game play. He used a wireless PS2 Guitar Hero controller and cut a hole in it. After which, the insides were removed and inserted a DS in it which allows for awesome strumming. With an attached FM transmitter, one could play it on the home sound system. The transmitter is controlled from the controller’s start and select buttons. We must say, this looks really cool and you will have a damn good time playing this hack.

Sony announced a 160GB PS3 bundle at Leipzig Games Convention. It is same as any other existing PS3 model other than its disk space. Other than a 160 GB PS3 console this bundle consists of Dual-Shock SIXAXIS and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Sony has announced two different bundles for US and Europe. US version comes with a voucher for the PS Network game PAIN and European version’s got downloadable content vouchers worth €70. It will be available by November for $499. As of now has not revealed any plans of releasing a stand alone 160GB PS3 but hopefully they will do so soon.

If existing gaming peripherals weren’t enough, new ones are being added everyday. At a German games convention, Xbox 360 controller stole the shoe. Though it looks just like the old one, it also has a redesigned directional pad and a cool design. The d-pad sits in a larger rocker and proves to be more tactile. Though it isn’t a great thing to be excited about, any improvements are always welcome. It is rather strange that we see additions to already existing peripherals but then we will have to wait for so long for a new game title. Well, that seems to be the irony of the gaming saga.

Don’t fret if the IDStorage on your PSP is lost or gets damaged, for Dark_AleX has released an update to his Despertar del Cementerio Universal Unbricker. You can regenerate the IDStorage and the format flash function, which is added to the DC7 menu, looks just great. Newer PSP models, which have a TA-088 v3 motherboard, don’t support the update. If a previous version of DC is there on your memory stick, you will have to copy the PSP/GAME first. Later, you can go ahead and launch the application from the game menu. If you are a DC fan, you are definitely going to love this.
