PC gamers are set to be on the receiving end yet again. DICE has confirmed that Battlefield 1943: Pacific will be coming out in June – for consoles that is! Battlefield 1943 will be available for download this June for PS3 and Xbox 360. The promised PC version will come out a couple of months later, September to be exact. Release date and platform priority aside, DICE’s 24-multiplayer downloadable FPS has also been priced. It will cost 1200 MS Points or $15, depending on your preferences. The PC version will cost the same in dollars. Battlefield 1943 is actually an improvement – improvement as in usage of Frostbite engine – over Battlefield 1942. This iteration consists of three maps form 1942 – Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima – which have been spruced up with tons of explosives and some kick-ass shooting action. Players can take up the role of either the US Marines or Imperial Japanese Navy. With three classes of characters, plethora of vehicles and amazing graphics, gamers are guaranteed rich gameplay. Check out the latest trailer of the game and see what the fuss is all about.

Vibrating joysticks hardly do the trick. You want unparalleled gaming experience then FPS Gaming Vest is the definitive wear. It’s a gaming immersion like no other and gives enough incentive to improve your gameplay. The FPS Vest comes with as many as eight pneumatic impact hammers – four each at the front and the back – that start to pound you as soon as you get shot within the game. This is done exactly at the spot where the bullet ostensibly hit you. Not only do you get a feel of being within the game but you may even start to pay more attention to avoid those hits. FPS glory is thus a matter of time with this vest on. The device is USB compatible and works with Windows XP and Vista. Coming in at 16.75 x 13.25 x 3.75 “, the FPS Gaming Vest ships with a copy of Call of Duty 2 (Windows) to get you started. With support for several titles (see list here), this attire will throw you right in the gameplay. You may also choose to dress your lesser opponent in this vest and prove your superiority, the hard way! Selling now for $138.99.
If you thought Japan had exclusive rights to go bonkers over video games then be prepared for some enlightenment. Also prepare for some knock-out funny stuff as Pac-man takes it to a French supermarket, golf course and pool club (one after the other) and learns some real life lessons. Rémi Gaillard, the well-known French comic, dons a yellow suit and is chased around by ghosts in a real-life rendition of Pac-man. You’ll see Rémi wreak havoc as he goes waka-waka-waka in a supermarket. He’s out to grab power-ups to kick some ghost-ass, but these are no match for a real golf club swung hard. Enough with the jabber, now stream some laugh out loud moments.
Watch out for: 1.00. Real-world lesson referred to above.

What’s Bizarre Creations been up to lately? I’ll tell you. It’s been busy on a James bond based ‘racing-driving’ game, the details of which are revealed in the latest issue of French gaming mag Joypad. Christened Blur, this game is like an improvement on the racing series Project Gotham, with the improvement taking the form of…weapons! Joypad reports that Blur will offer all that was in PGR series with the addition of a vast range of weapons and armor. The article, and consequently its translation is woefully short on description, but mines, shields and electric attacks seem to have found a place in Blur. All the usual (read exotic) racing venues like New York, San Francisco, LA, London, and Tokyo are on the cards, or so it seems. Unfortunately that’s all the info that we have at the moment. Those who subscribe to Joypad can access the screenshots that magazine apparently brings. Others will have to wait for E3, which is just around the corner. It seems Bizarre is doing ok in the corner of Activision; at least for now.

Gear up to shoot till you thumbs get sore, and then some more. Left 4 Dead has got its Survival Pack up and running for PC and Xbox 360. It comes completely free of charge for the owners of the game, while others can follow (special) pricing details on Steam. As the name indicates, Survival Pack enables survival mode in the game. For the Versus Mode, the Survival Pack adds Death Toll and Dead Air levels. Jump for a detailed description of the patch.

‘Doubt everything’ is the first principle that ought to be followed while surfing web to answer gaming queries. With a plethora of choices, gamers are always unsure as to who’s telling the truth; believe you me, web’s nothing if not short of contradictions. In such a bleak scenario, GameFly’s latest gaming expedition is a ray of light. Game Answers is a website, no prizes for guessing, geared to put a stop to all your gaming questions. Sean Spector, GameFly’s co-founder describes:

Remember how we went gaga about three weeks back. Then the occasion was a new trailer for Plants vs. Zombies. Today the occasion demands almost as crazy a reaction. Plants vs. Zombies comes out in just about fourteen days (on May 5 to be precise) and Steam has come out with a pre-order offer that’s a steal. (If you are as intrigued by the title as we are anyway!) Steam is putting the game for pre-order at $9.99, and if that’s not crazy enough, it is bundling along another title, absolutely free. To repeat, for $9.99 you get a copy of Plants vs. Zombies on May 6 and a copy of Heavy Weapon Deluxe for no additional charges. The two inferences that can be drawn are: one, PopCap is pricing the title low, despite all the hype and expectations; and two, we’re getting an obvious bargain. Heavy Weapon Deluxe, by the way, is a side-scrolling shoot-em-up that bring arcade fun to a Windows-based gamer. A win-win, if ever there was one!

More Zen Pinball News & Previews
Zen Studios had created quite a stir with its arcade-style pinball offering on XBLA. Two years on and the tables, I mean the consoles have turned. This time around, the company wants to deliver the classic arcade game on the PlayStation Network. ZEN Pinball has been announced for PS3 and will roll out in spring. Seeking to turn a new leaf in ball physics and graphical details, for this sort of title, ZEN Pinball is being touted as a new for PSN. Zsolt Kigyossy, managing director for ZEN Studios believes that this sort of game is missing from the assortment available on PlayStation Network. ZEN Pinball is set to take the stage by storm and comes with challenging tables, designed in great detail, variety of in-game missions, multiplayer options of one-on-one type (local and online) as well as multi-day worldwide tourneys. One can test his mettle against players from all over the world as ZEN Pinball maintains “Score Speed, Best One Minute, and Multiplayer Ranking scoreboards.” To top it off, we have a promise of a variety of downloadable titles soon. Ah, I almost forgot to mention the trailer. Enjoy!

App Store has crossed one billion mark in downloads since it opened last July. As a promotional campaign to celebrate this momentous achievement, Apple has released the list of twenty most downloaded iPhone and iPod Touch applications, both in free and paid categories. No prizes for guessing that games comprise 30 per cent of total download in the free category and 70 per cent in the paid category. But you’d never guess which one tops the list of most downloaded paid apps. Why it’s none other than the fallen console giant Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D. Despite being the most costly application on the list, an honor shared with Sega’s Super Monkey Ball, Activision’s Crash Bandicoot has managed to grab the top spot. The racing game equals the performance of Tapulous’ Tap Tap Revenge, which is the most downloaded game in free category. The overall topper in the free category is Facebook.

It was not without a certain degree of gleeful excitement that I reported about the DLC for Saints Row 2. The ‘glee’ had its root in the presence of Tera Patrick in the promised DLC, while the excitement was due to the fact that Ultor Exposed was scheduled for a release on April 16. And now it is not without a twinge of disappointment I report that THQ has decided that Ultor Exposed will now see the light of the day on April 23 instead. Saints Row 2’s DLC will consequently hit Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store next Thursday. I guess it is not too much of a delay for three new co-op enabled missions, six new modes of transportation, new customization options, and Tera Patrick; unless of course you’ve already used that monthly gaming holiday. Anyway you’ll still do well to hold on to those 800 MS Points or 9.99 USD since you’ll need them next week in any case. Be sure to concoct some other story for your employer by that day.
