  • More Fallout 3 concept art pictures surface

    Asmita Prasad | May 16 2008

Do you love the grim post-apocalyptic vision presented in the gruesome alternate reality that is Fallout 3? Then you are absolutely gonna love the new concept art developed by Bethesda Softworks for their highly anticipated RPG. The third installment of the smash hit Fallout series takes place in the year 2277 and developers seem to think that though humans will largely be untouched by evolution, cows somehow would have learnt the fine art of growing extra horns, heads and gigantic udders! The new sketches are stunning no doubt, but I’m kinda disappointed that even after 269 years, humans will have to rely on weapons for warfare. I mean cant we just genetically modify ourselves to get earth-shattering superpowers in our limbs? Chew on that will ya.

  • New Xbox 360 game trailer has Super Mario getting his head blown off

    Asmita Prasad | May 15 2008

A developer working on the new Banjo Kazooie: Nuts And Bolts game for Xbox 360 has said that the gameplay trailer which features a scene where a giant LEGO-like semblance of Super Mario gets its his head blown by a guided missile, had no ‘malicious intent’ behind it. The Mario vehicle, developers at Rare stress, will not be a part of the final game. And though the scene itself isn’t that offending, unless you’re a NES faithful ruing the day Microsoft got to lay their dirty paws on Rare, or a desperate Mario lover with a split personality-thing going on. Anywho, the hype and the controversy is sure going to help Rare garner a lot of attention for what is looking like a rather unimpressive game for the time being.

  • Xbox Live bans 'gay' gamer name

    Asmita Prasad | May 15 2008

Reports of people using webcams to have cyber sex via Xbox Live are becoming increasingly commonplace these days. But that isn’t the shocking part here. Apparently, officials at Microsoft or the ‘greater Xbox community’ find the word ‘gay’ a little too offensive for their prudish setup which of course led them to ban the gamer tag ‘theGAYERgamer’ permanently and ask him to change it to suit its more demure audiences. Apparently the fuming and offended player tried to contact the MS officials and have his grievance heard, but he was politely, and firmly, told that the tag was found inappropriate by the community and not a particular personal and thus had to be rejected for the greater good. One wonders how violent and sexually suggestive games on the channel never offended the greater community and a man revealing his sexual preference in the most non-perverted way did! Anyhow, we certainly hope the gay rights groups do something about this discriminatory action soon.

  • Sex and the City videogame under development for Wii

    Asmita Prasad | May 15 2008

Now here’s a video game that promises to ’stimulate’ quite a few fancies. Word is that Rockstar have started work on a Sex and the City game for Nintendo Wii that will coincide the release of the movie of the same title later this month. The game will chart the sex life of Kim Catrall’s character Samantha and players will be required to assist her in bedding 100 men before she turns 50 and that too without developing any life-threatening STDs. The game will be rated M for its portrayal of ‘intense sexuality’ and apparently there will also be an online version of it in which players ‘must spread the STD of their choice… to as many other people in under five minutes.’ I sure as hell hope that last bit of detail is a serious hoax because if this were true, a lot of people will be getting divorces for their love of the game!

  • Drum set for Guitar Hero 4 released

    Asmita Prasad | May 15 2008

For the first time in the series, players will be able to use a specially created set of drums with their Guitar Hero 4 game. In a bid to take on the other musical smash hit Rock Band, Red Octane have launched their own drum kit peripheral to add an extra dose of versatility to the highly anticipated game that releases later this year. The design of the GH4 controller looks like a straight lift-off of the Rock Band set, with the only obvious distinction being that their set only uses three drum pads along with two cymbals and a foot pedal. The thing looks sleek enough as a start-up set, but I have yet to see this miserable-looking drum controller evoke any semblance of passion in even the most ardent GH fans. Maybe we’ll have a clear view of things when the drum set is actually revealed to us later this year.

  • Bandai Namco’s Family Trainer hitting shelves this September

    Gagandeep Sharma | May 14 2008

Get your flab ready for action. Come this September, Wii owners in Europe and Australia will gear up for challenges on Family Trainer. Atari has announced that it will be bringing Bandai Namco’s Family Trainer on to Wii consoles exclusively, along with the necessary paraphernalia.

And this includes the additional Family Trainer Mat Controller. Combined with Wii Remote, it will enable players to work with their legs and not simply flay their arms around. This means a better and more immersed physical experience. However, Atari would have us believe that the additional and detailed game play won’t necessary complicate stuff and players of all ages would be able to join in on the fun.

  • Xbox 360 to get Zoids Assault soon

    Asmita Prasad | May 14 2008

Role-playing games (RPGs) seem to be the flavor of the season and Xbox 360 has added yet another one in their kitty with Zoids Assault. Created by Atlus USA, the game will require players to manage a team of choicest war machine and lead them through a gritty campaign spanning some pretty severe military conflicts. Featuring giant bio-mechanic beasts called Zoids, the RPG will give players customizations and upgrade options for each machine including combat weapons, rockets, rifles, cannons, and you know, the works. The gameplay involves a war scenario between two imaginary world superpowers called the Guylos Empire and the Republic of Helic, and two nations called Maroll and Jamil get sucked into the conflict via their alignment to the two major states. Zoids Assault puts players in the control cockpit of the humungous Zoids to wage war against the enemy using a whole host of weapons and gadgetry. The RPG is a localized version of another Atlus game called Zoids Alternative which apparently has been quite a rage in Japan. Zoids Assault will exclusively release on the Xbox 360 on august 26 later this year.
